Laos: over 5,400 people get dengue fever

A total of 5,427 cases of dengue fever have been recorded in Laos so far this year, with nine fatalities, the Health Ministry of Laos said on August 25.

Vientiane (VNA) – A total of 5,427 cases of dengue fever havebeen recorded in Laos so far this year, with nine fatalities, the HealthMinistry of Laos said on August 25.

A press release of the ministry said Vientiane capital had the mostcases with 1,269, followed by Bolikhamxay with 639.

The capital city also recorded the most fatalities due to dengue fever,four, while Bolikhamxay had two. Khammuan, Xayaboury and Xieng Khuang each hadone death.

Dengue fever often occurs in most localities in Laos in the rainyseason. The Health Ministry has implemented preventive measures while workingto improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment at medical establishmentsacross the country./.
