Laos sees decrease in number of new COVID-19 infections

Vientiane (VNA) - The Lao Ministry of Health on December 26 reportedthat the country had recorded 851 new cases of COVID-19 and eight related deathsin the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, after six consecutive days of recording4-digit infections, this is the first time the number of new cases in thecountry has dropped to 3-digits, down 156 cases compared to that of December25.

Vientiane capital also recorded a decrease in the number of cases,but still ranked first in the country with 323 cases in a day.

To date, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Laos hasreached 106,231, of whom 325 died.

To prepare for the reopening, the Lao government ispromoting the vaccination of basic shots for people, and booster shots forhigh-risk groups such as health staff, public security and military forces./.
