Laos sees new daily record of COVID-19 cases

Laos reported a new record high of 1,062 COVID-19 infections on November 3, the highest ever daily rise since the pandemic broke out in the country.

Vientiane (VNA) - Laos reported a new record highof 1,062 COVID-19 infections on November 3, the highest ever daily risesince the pandemic broke out in the country.

The Ministry of Health said a total of 1,053 cases werereported within the community in 13 cities and provinces of Laos. Its capitalcity of Vientiane continued to log the highest number of COVID-19 infections with 517 cases.

As of November 3, the total number of confirmedCOVID-19 cases in Laos reached 42,891.

The ministry also reported three new COVID-19 fatalities,raising the country's death toll to 73.

Amid complicated developments of the pandemic, the Lao government asked localities tocontinue seriously implementing COVID-19 prevention and control measures at high-riskzones.

Meanwhile, the ministry has set up mobile medical teams in districtsnationwide to serve vaccinations.

The country has inoculated nearly 3.3 million people(45 percent of its population) against COVID-19, with more than 2.8 million (38.38 percent of its population) fullyvaccinated./.
