Vientiane (VNA) – Lao Ministry of Health has urged people nationwide to remain vigilant and help control the spread of dengue fever, as the number of infected cases continues to rise across the country.

The ministry’s Centre of Information and Education for Health on March 23 reported that the country has confirmed 670 dengue fever cases so far this year. Vientiane reported the highest number with 116.

Health authority asked people to keep taking preventive measures like closing and sealing all unused containers, flushing out all water vessels, placing the mosquito larvae-eating guppy fish in water jars, and cleaning areas around homes.

Moreover, people in Laos are advised to take a blood test at a hospital if they fall ill.

The health ministry also asked local authorities to closely monitor the disease developments, raise public awareness of the danger of the disease, and instruct people to take preventive steps./.
