Vientiane​ (VNA)🐓 – Laos will start using E-passports from 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on November 29.

Preparations for this move have been carried out since 2012 with the assistance of the Russian government and Russia’s International Book-Security company. As planned, Laos will issue E-passports for diplomats from January 15, 2016, while government officials and ordinary citizens will switch to the new passports from the middle of the year. The ministry made the announcement on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Lao-Russian and Russian-Lao Friendship Associations.-VNA
