Leaders extend greetings on 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Brazil diplomatic ties

Hanoi (VNA) – Acting President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 8 sent messages of congratulations to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the occasion of the 35th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Brazil diplomatic ties (May 8, 1989 – 2024).
On this occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also extended greetings to his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira./.
Brazil and Vietnam have plenty of possibilities to deepen their relations, particularly in trade, investment and people-to-people connections, Secretary for Asia and the Pacific at the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eduardo Paes Saboia said in his interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency's correspondents in Latin America on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties (May 8, 1989-2024).
May 8, 2024, marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Brazil. Since then, cooperation between the two countries has continually developed in all regards, including politics, defence, diplomacy, economy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, and relations were then upgraded to a Comprehensive Partnership in 2007. Vietnam and Brazil boast substantial potential in bilateral trade and aim to raise turnover to 10 billion USD by 2023.
The Vietnam-Brazil friendship and cooperative ties began in the early 20th century when President Ho Chi Minh set his foot in Rio de Janeiro in 1912 in his journey to seek the way to salvage the nation, according to a Brazilian official.
Vietnam is deeply concerned about the escalating and complex conflict in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to regional and global peace and stability.
