
Dong Thap (VNA) – National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan joined teachers and students of the Thap MuoiHigh School in Thap Muoi district, the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap, in aceremony starting the 2019-2020 academic year on September 5.
At the event, participants listened to a letterby Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on the newacademic year.
Chairwoman Ngan said she hopes teachers andstudents will make unceasing efforts to fulfill tasks for the year and obtainnew achievements, thereby helping to equip younger generations – the futuremasters of Vietnam – with comprehensive knowledge and skills so that they canadequately contribute to the country’s industrialisation, modernisation andintegration into the world.
Following late President Ho Chi Minh’steachings, the Party and State have attached utmost importance to education andincluded it in the country’s human development strategy, she stressed.
The parliament leader asked the sector to presson with realising the Party and State’s policies on reforming the managementand promoting the quality of education, including ethics and life skilleducation, thereby creating high-quality human resources for the country.
Ngan also expressed her hope that in the newschool year, students nationwide will make efforts in learning andself-improvement so as to help turn Vietnam into a strong and prosperous nationthat comparable to other countries around the world like what late President HoChi Minh aspired.
She also called on Party committees,authorities, socio-economic organisations and people of all strata to joinhands in promoting education.
Also on September 5, many other leaders attendednew school year celebrations across the country.
Politburo member and Deputy Prime MinisterTruong Hoa Binh participated in the ceremony at the Hoang Hoa Tham PrimarySchool in Thanh Hoa city, the central province of Thanh Hoa.
Politburo member and head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Information and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong came to sharethe new school year’s joy with teachers and students of the Chu Van AnSecondary School in Ngo Quyen district, the northern city of Hai Phong.
Meanwhile, Politburo member and Deputy PrimeMinister Vuong Dinh Hue beat the drum to kick off the 2019-2020 academic yearat the Ly Nam De Primary School in Hung Ha district, the northern province ofThai Binh.
The ceremony at the Hung Vuong High School inViet Tri city, the northern province of Phu Tho, saw the presence of Politburomember and head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen VanBinh.
Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh took part inthe celebration at the Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in Nam Dinhcity, the northern province of Nam Dinh.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam joined teachersand students of the Le Van Tam Primary School in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh Cityin a ceremony to start the new academic year.
