Lithuanian President concludes official visit to Vietnam

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda affirmed that Vietnam is one of Lithuania’s leading partners in the region and expressed a strong desire to further develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas where both sides have potential and strengths.

Hanoi, June 12 (VNA) - Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and his spouse Diana Nausediene, along with a high-ranking delegation of Lithuania, departed Hanoi on June 12 evening, concluding their two-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of State President Luong Cuong.

President Nauseda and his entourage were seen off at Noi Bai International Airport by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van and Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland and Lithuania Ha Hoang Hai.

While in Vietnam, the President and his spouse paid floral tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, and laid a wreath at the monument to heroes and martyrs on Bac Son Street, Hanoi.

Party General Secretary To Lam received President Nausėda, while President Cuong hosted an official welcome ceremony and a banquet for his Lithuanian counterpart.

The two Presidents also held talks and witnessed the signing of several cooperation documents between the two countries in the fields of energy, science-technology, agriculture, and finance.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also met with the Lithuanian President.

At these meetings, the host leaders welcomed the historic visit of President Nausėda, the first by a Lithuanian head of state since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Lithuania in 1992.

They shared the view that the visit marks an important milestone that will help advance the bilateral relationship in a more robust, substantive, and effective manner in the time ahead.

The Vietnamese leaders expressed their gratitude to the Government and people of Lithuania for their valuable support and assistance during Vietnam’s difficult times in the past. They affirmed that Vietnam always values and seeks to strengthen ties with traditional friends, including Lithuania — an important partner of Vietnam in the region.

President Nausėda expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in its renewal process, noting the country’s status as one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia and the world.

He affirmed that Vietnam is one of Lithuania’s leading partners in the region and expressed a strong desire to further develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas where both sides have potential and strengths.

The two sides looked into major orientations and concrete measures to strengthen cooperation and elevate bilateral relations in the coming time.

A highlight of the visit was the Lithuania–Vietnam Business Forum, where President Nausėda delivered the opening remarks, sharing meaningful messages with participants./.
