Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia is targeting 40 gold, 37 silver and64 bronze medals at the 32nd SEA Games which will take place in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from May 5-17,said the country’s Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.

Speaking at a National Sports Council (NCS) meeting on April 30, theminister described it as a realistic target, adding that she believes thenational contingent of 677 athletes, with 440 or 65 % of them making theirdebut at the biennial Games, can rake in more than the targeted number ofmedals.

According to Hannah, the Malaysian contingent this time willonly be competing in 33 of the 36 types of sports to be contested in Cambodia.

💫 Shesaid that from the total, Malaysia will be taking part in 340 events, which is58.42% of the 582 events being contested.

Inthe 31st edition of the Games in Vietnam last year, Malaysia came insixth overall with a 39-45-90 medal haul./.
