KualaLumpur (VNA) – Malaysia and Canada have committed to working togetherto combat terrorism, Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein saidfollowing his meeting with Canadian counterpart Harjit Singh Sajjan on April25.

Both sidesagreed to coordinate in their defence industries, military-to-militarycooperation and strategic matters of interest, he said, adding that thoughmonitoring the Islamic State group of militants is primarily the home ministry’srole, his ministry is also responsible.

The twoministers discussed regional and international issues of common interest.

Visitingthe King Salman Centre for International Peace earlier, Harjit Singh Sajjan saidmilitary training is a requirement of cooperation between Malaysian andCanadian armies to address the threat of terrorism.-VNA
