Hanoi (VNA) – The US’s Milken Institute hasannounced its Global Opportunity Index (GOI) 2024 report, with Malaysia namedas the country with the best overall investment condition among emerging anddeveloping (E&D) nations in Asia.
Globally, Malaysia has an overall ranking of 27, ahead ofThailand (37) and China (39), according to the report.
Indonesian Investment, Trade and Industry Minister ZafrulAbdul Aziz was quoted by local media as commenting on the achievement that itis a testament to Malaysia’s efforts in enhancing the ease of doing businessand addressing key pain points along the investor’s journey.
He said that the recognition reflects Malaysia’s volumes of focuson efficient implementation of approved investments, while motivating the countryto deliver even better service to help investors make Malaysia their gateway toAsia.
Milken Institute said Malaysia, the country with the bestinvestment conditions in the region, performed significantly above the E&Daverage in financial services and institutional frameworks.
In addition to Malaysia, China, the region’s largesteconomy, scores significantly above the E&D average on financial access andfinancial size and conditions, the two subcategories included in financialservices, it said.
Milken also found that E&D Asia performed relatively well in financialservices, with its average score in this category closely trailing that ofE&D Europe and ahead of other E&D regions.
The GOI categories are business perception, economicfundamentals, financial services, institutional framework, and internationalstandards and policy./.
