Malaysia, India secure various deals

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia andIndia signed six memoranda of understanding on bilateral cooperation in NewDelhi, India, on April 1, according to Malaysian media.

The signing ceremony was witnessed byMalaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is on a visit to India, and hisIndian counterpart Narendra Modi.

Malaysian media said among these pacts areproposals to establish a channel to transfer surplus urea from Malaysia toIndia, and to build a 2-billion-USD urea and ammonia manufacturing plant inMalaysia, which is capable of supplying 2.5 million tonnes per annum for theIndian market.

The sides also agreed on cooperation intechnology, aviation services, education and palm oil production.

A joint statement released after a meetingbetween the two PMs indicated their agreement in financial collaboration and India’sappreciation of Malaysia’s visa waiver programme for Indian nationals betweennow and March 2018.

The leaders also stressed their commitmentsto combating terrorism together, agreeing that their fight targets not onlyterrorists and their network but also countries that support terrorism.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is in asix-day visit to India, which began on March 30, in conjunction with thecelebration of 60-year bilateral relations. This is his third visit to thecountry since taking office in 2009.-VNA
