KualaLumpur (VNA)🦹 – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on May 8launched a new initiative in a bid to enhance the country’s fight againstcorruption.

Speakingwith reporters, MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad said the Anti-Corruption RevolutionMovement (Gerah) aims to create major and drastic changes in Malaysian people,ensuring they see corruption as their number one enemy. TheGerah campaign will be held on the first Monday of each month with theparticipation of about 2,000 MACC officers, who are expected to meet with20,000 people each month. Byforming close bonds with the public, the MACC hopes people will assist theagency in reporting cases of corruption and abuse of power and think of theofficers as their family members, then able to say no to corruption, Dzulkiflistressed. InFebruary, the MACC asked for permission to access data sources on incomes andasset declaration of public servants, including cabinet members. Currently, theMalaysian law does not allow the MACC to investigate any individual withoutdenouncing letters.-VNA
