The Malaysian government has decided that fully vaccinated international tourists are required to stay at least seven days on Langkawi island before they are allowed to visit other destinations in the country.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian government has decided that fully vaccinated internationaltourists are required to stay at least seven days on Langkawi island beforethey are allowed to visit other destinations in the country.

LangkawiDevelopment Authority (Lada) chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Mutallib was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying that the requirement is in line withLangkawi's status as the gateway for international tourists visiting otherdestinations in Malaysia.

Forinternational tourists who are planning to visit Langkawi alone, the minimumstay period has been set for three days.

In a related event, HealthMinister Khairy Jamaluddin on November 15 said Malaysia’s National Table TopExercise was conducted over the past few days to prepare for a surge inhealthcare capacity after the national COVID-19 infectivity rate rose above1.0.

The rate has been onthe rise starting November 6 and stood at 1.05 for the second consecutive day on November 14./.
