Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The United MalaysNational Organisation (UMNO) ruling partyorganised a congress in Kuala Lumpur on December 1 to prepare for the generalelection.

The congresswas attended by 44 observers representing 12 political parties from ASEANmember countries. The Vietnamese delegation to the event was led by Hoang ThiHanh, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region.

Thefour-day congress will discuss how to ensure the success of the upcoming poll, dealwith difficulties faced by UMNO, and develop the UMNO party.

Morethan 5,700 UMNO party members will hear political instructions from UMNOleaders.

Inhis remarks, Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also UMNO President, said theparty is facing unprecedented challenges, calling on its members to exert everyeffort to win victory at the upcoming election.

Najibwarned of risks in case a Government is led by the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Onthis occasion, he spoke highly the role played by the Barisan Nasionalcoalition (BN) with UMNO as the key party. Najib said BN has significantlycontributed to people’s prosperity over the past time.-VNA
