Malaysian police on March 9announced that a citizen of the country had been sentenced to more than 10years in prison for profaning Muslim and Prophet Muhammad.

Head of the Malaysian national police Mohamad Fuzi Harynsaid the man with a Facebook account nickname of “Ayea Yea” was order to spend10 years and 10 months behind bars for 10 counts related to religiousprofanation and abuse of communications network. The sentence is described asamong the heaviest in Malaysia in recent years.

Besides this man, three other social network users are alsocharged with profaning Muslim and Prophets Muhammad and racial discrimination.

The police chief also called on the people to refrain fromusing social networks or other communications ones to post or share those contentsthat may relate to religious and racial issues which are extremely sensitive ina multi-racial country like Malaysia.-VNA
