Kuala Lumpur (VNA) ▨– Empoweringlocal communities in the agriculture sector to attract young people to this fieldis one of the measures taken by Malaysia to address labour shortage while alsocontributing to tackling challenges in food security.

Speaking at a conference held in Kuala Lumpur from April 23-24, Under-Secretary of Agro-based Food Industry Division at the MalaysianMinistry of Agriculture and Food Security Muhammad Ammir Bin Haron proposed threemeasures to encourage young people, including Government-supported fund,vocational training and incentive packages. On the sidelines of the event, he said as theASEAN Chair 2025, Malaysia will look to ensure food security without shortages.To achieve this, regional countries should enhance cooperation to establish asolid foundation for food security. The event focused its discussions on strategy andchallenges to ensuring food security and access for all, tackling food waste,incorporating digital technology into smart farm management, among others./.
