Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – As part of the efforts against the sudden price hikes, Malaysia’s Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has launched the Price Catcher application that displays the prices of 480 items at traditional markets, supermarkets, and grocery stores.

There are six categories of goods being monitored - fresh goods, dry goods, packaged items, milk and baby products, hygiene products, and beverages.

Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that through the app, consumers can easily compare prices, and if they detect sudden increases in the prices of certain goods, they can report to Komuniti MADANI under the Department of Information Malaysia so that it can collaborate with KPDN to resolve.

Komuniti MADANI was established in June 2023, aiming to enhance government communication effectiveness.

🥂 Fahmi expressed his hope that Komuniti MADANI can play a more serious role in monitoring prices, especially after the coming public sector wage increase in December./.
