Malaysia tightens border security after attacks in neighbouring countries

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Security at all entry pointsnationwide, including rat trails, will be enhanced to ensure terrorists on therun from the authorities of the neighbouring countries do not infiltrate intoMalaysia, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid, who is also Minister of Home Affairs, said on May 28that the country will ensure that security at entry points and territorialwaters is at the highest level with the engagement of the Marine Police,Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Royal Malaysian Navy and Eastern SabahSecurity Command.
The move was being taken following a series of recent terrorattacks in the Philippines, Indonesia and Bangkok recently, forcing thesecountries to step up counter-terrorism campaigns.
