Malaysia to extend working time for senior foreign workers
Foreign workers holding the Visit Pass – Temporary Employment (PLKS) for the past 10 years will be given a reprieve to continue working in Malaysia for a maximum three years.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Foreign workers holding the Visit Pass –Temporary Employment (PLKS) for the past 10 years will be given a reprieve tocontinue working in Malaysia for a maximum three years.
The Star quoted Malaysian Minister of Human Resources M. Kulasegaran as sayingthat the passes have to be renewed every year.
These foreign workers are not allowed to apply for entry permits, permanentresident status or Malaysian citizenship, he said.
Malaysia receives a large number of legal foreign workers, at over 1.8 million.The workers come from different countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia,Myanmar and Vietnam. Many of them have been living and working here for over 10years, even 20 years.
At present, Malaysia’s competent agencies are drafting a policy relating tomanagement of foreign labour recruitment, featuring efforts to seek mechanismsto simplify labour recruitment, including eliminating the role of third parties.-VNA
