Hanoi (VNA) – Malaysia’s new king Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah called fornational unity during his first parliamentary address on March 11.

Abdullah, who wassworn in as Malaysia’s 16th king in January, urged Malaysian people to work towardsunity in a meaningful way which, he said, was especially important in amulticultural and multiracial country.

According to the king,various efforts have been made to strengthen unity among the multiracialpopulation of the country.

He also urged thegovernment to ensure the country is not left behind in terms of new technologyand new economic opportunities, especially in a challenging global economy.

He said that hehopes the government will continue to increase the number of enterprises, investorsand innovators who are capable of creating new wealth.

Small- and medium-sizedenterprises should increase their productivity using modern technology andautomation to create products with high added value that are able to compete on the global market.
