Hanoi (VNA) – Nguyen Anh Khoi secureda double at the World Youth U14, U16 and U18 Rapid and Blitz ChessChampionships, which ended in Greece on October 30.
The Vietnamese International Master (IM)was the winner of the boys’ U16 blitz event, confirming his victory after theeighth match at the nine-match tournament.
Khoi, former world U10 and U12 standardchess champion, won seven matches and drew one, before losing his only game inthe last round.
IM Adam Kozak from Hungary came second,followed by Georgios Mitsis of the host nation.
Earlier, Khoi, one of the three youngestmasters to win a national championship title, triumphed in the U16 rapid chesscategory with nine wins.
It is Vietnam’s best result at the worldcompetition’s U16 event.
In the U18 blitz, Master Le Minh Hoang of Vietnamsecured a silver medal.
He earned 6.5 points, 0.5 less than winnerValeriy Kazakovskiy of Belarus.
Vietnam also secured two other silvers, wonby Nguyen Hong Ngoc in the girls’ U18 category and Do Vu Thien Nhi in thegirls’ U16 class.
The world championships wrapped up with Vietnambringing home three gold and three silver medals in total.-VNA
Vietnamese chess players Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son won another gold medal at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in Turkmenistan on September 26.
Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son brought home the last gold medal for the Vietnam delegation in the men’s team’s blitz chess category at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG), which concluded in Turkmenistan on September 27.
Eight Vietnamese chess players will attend the World Youth U14, U16, U18 Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2017 to take place in Greek from October 27.
Nguyen Trong Nha Uyen has made history for Vietnam’s dancesport by clinching a bronze medal in the solo Latin category at the WDSF World Championship 2025 in Germany.
