The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship 2018 in Vietnam was launched on December 5 by the Ho Chi Minh Central Youth Union and IIG Vietnam, an organisation for testing and educational quality accreditation.

Hanoi (VNA) -The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship 2018 in Vietnam waslaunched on December 5 by the Ho Chi Minh Central Youth Union and IIG Vietnam,an organisation for testing and educational quality accreditation.
In the national primary examination round, candidates will take the MOSSpecialist test – to assess their skills in Microsoft Office, includingMicrosoft Office 2013, Microsoft Excel 2013 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2013.
A total of 120 most outstanding candidates will participate in the nationalfinal round.
Three most outstanding candidates from the national final round will take partin the world final round, which will be organised in Florida, the UnitedStates, from July 29, 2018 to August 1, 2018.
The first prize for the world final round will be 7,000 USD while the secondand third prizes will be 3,500 USD and 1,500 USD, respectively.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh YouthUnion Central Committee, said he highly appreciated the efforts of IIG Vietnam duringthe past eight years to bring the competition to Vietnamese students.
“The competition helps impart information technology teaching and studyingbased on international norms, helps schools assess their teaching quality, and,therefore, creates good condition to develop young talent in the presentinternational integration scenario,” he said.
Also at the launch ceremony, the organiser honoured Vietnamese MOS ambassadorswho won outstanding achievements at the world final round MOS WorldChampionship 2017. The competition was organised in California in the UnitedStates in August this year. The ambassadors are Bui Manh Tu from Le Hong PhongHigh School for Gifted Students in the northern province of Nam Dinh, Duong QuocTrung from HCM City University of Foreign Trade and Do Tien Diep from People’sSecurity Academy.
When the competition was first launched in 2010, just some 30 universities andcolleges across the country participated. At present, the competition hasattracted more than 500 junior secondary schools, high schools, universitiesand colleges, with more than three million students across the country.-VNA
