Milk gifted to schools in flood-hit provinces

The Ministry of Education and Training and Dutch-owned dairy company FrieslandCampina in Vietnam have donated 30 tonnes of milk to schools in northern provinces, which were badly affected by floods that began at the end of July.

HCM City (VNA) - The Ministry of Education and Training and Dutch-owneddairy company FrieslandCampina in Vietnam have donated 30 tonnes of milkto schools in northern provinces, which were badly affected by floods thatbegan at the end of July. The schools are in the districts ofMu Cang Chai in Yen Bai Province, Muong La in Son La and Tan Son in Phu Tho. At the handover ceremony, Colonel HoangVan Tong, deputy head of the ministry’s department of national defence,encouraged staff and students at the schools to try and overcome theirdifficulties caused by the floods. Kindergarten and primary schoolstudents in disadvantaged areas in the provinces of Son La, Dien Bien and HaGiang also received 12 tonnes of milk earlier. The Ministry of Education andTraining  conferreda Certificate of Merit on FrieslandCampina Vietnam for providing nutrition tochildren, especially in disadvantaged border areas. -VNA
