Minister calls for preparation of workforce for AI ecosystem

HCM City (VNA) – Minister ofScience and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat has called for preparing a workforce f💖or artificial intelligence (AI), thus contributing tothe sustainable development of the AI 🐽ecosystem in Vietnam.
Addressing the opening of the Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Festival 2023 (AI4VN) in Ho Chi Minh City on September 22, Datsaid the building of this workforce aims to achieve the goal ofmaking Vietnam an innovation and AI hub in ASEAN and the world, as outlined inthe national strategy on research, development and application of AI till 2030. Viathe two-day event, he said the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) wants to connect Government officials, experts, scientists,businesses and investors interested in AI at home and abroad. The UK Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, EmilyHamblin, said the solutions on display have demonstrated the development ofVietnam's technology sector with the active involvement of numerous enterprises.The event provides a platform to promote AI application in daily life.

Initiated by MoST, the event was held for thefirst time in 2018. This year, it took the theme “AI: Power for Life" with the plenary session discussinghot topics to help the community and businesses gain a better understanding ofAI technology applications in daily life. It also serves as a bridge for Governmentagencies, departments and businesses to discuss policies for AI development inVietnam. The event also featured a business leaders' conference ontechnology, discussions on AI trends in finance, AI and big data application inhealthcare, and a showcase area where nearly 30 domestic and foreign exhibitorsintroduced prominent AI products./.
Military-run telecom provider Viettel and Microsoft Vietnam have recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote the application of Industry 4.0 technology solutions such as Cloud, Data & AI across various sectors and enhance digital services in Vietnam, said a Viettel representative on June 16.

Over the past three decades, Binh Duong has cemented its status as one of Vietnam’s most dynamic industrial hubs, building a robust foundation in manufacturing, exports, and investment. The province now has 30 operational industrial parks spanning over 13,000 hectares, with an occupancy rate exceeding 90%.

The average speed of the national mobile broadband network remained stable, with download speeds reaching 76.86 Mbps and upload speeds reaching 26.98 Mbps.

Vietnam’s demographic advantage, including a youthful population of 100 million in a “golden age”, further bolsters its ambitions. Its dynamic workforce, with a natural inclination toward science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), is a key asset in attracting private investment to innovation-driven sectors.
Vietnam views sci-tech as a decisive factor in national development and a key tool for achieving sustainable development goals, and is ready to boost sci-tech cooperation with Venezuela for mutual prosperity.
