Hanoi (VNA) – It is crucial to roll out more drastic solutions to promote human resources development for cultural and art sectors, said Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung while answering a question at the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee’s question-and-answer session on August 21.

Responding to a query on measures to improve the quality and quantity of human resources in the fields of culture and art, Hung said that without drastic measures, some traditional arts may face difficulties.

He said that currently, the Government has applied tuition reduction and support for students enrolling in traditional art majors in training facilities across the country. However, a long-term solution is to inspire the love for traditional art among the community.

Regarding measures to boost tourism growth, Hung said that his ministry has designed a project to encourage localities to develop night-time tourism products depending on their tourism planning, aiming that each locality has a unique, professional, and attractive tourism product with high competitiveness.

Stressing the supplementary relations between tourism and culture, he said that tourism products must carry deep cultural imprints.

Answering deputies’ questions on cultural industries, Hung said that boosting their growth is a matter drawing great attention from the Party, which has been clarified in many documents and resolutions. In order to realise these documents, the Government has issued a decision approving the development strategy for Vietnam’s cultural industries to 2020 with a vision to 2030.

The strategy defines 12 cultural industries, and they have made good contributions to the national economy, he said.

The official said that in order to continue to effectively implement the strategy in the current period, the ministry has advised the Party, State and the Prime Minister. For the first time, the PM held a national conference on cultural industries to define major tasks and solutions in the work.

🌠 More proposals will be submitted to the NA to complete policies and laws related to cultural industries, with clearer definition of the role of the State, businesses, and creators, he said./.
