More remains of Vietnamese martyrs repatriated from Laos

Phnom Penh (VNA)🔜 – A ceremony was held in the northern Lao province of Oudomxayon December 29 to repatriate ten sets of remains of Vietnamese soldiers andexperts who laid down their lives in the neighbouring country.
DeputyPolitical Commissar of the Military Region 2 and head of the military region's Steering Committee 515 Major General Tran Ngoc Tuan, officials of Oudomxay province, representativesfrom the Vietnamese People Association in Oudomxay province and Vietnam's 705International Cooperation Co. Ltd attended the ceremony. Thiswas the first repatriation of martyrs' remains found in six northern Lao provinces during the2022 - 2023 dry season. Theremains were found by a search teamfrom the Military Region 2.
Ofthe ten sets of remains, six were identified with names and hometowns.They will be handed over to the local authorities for funeral rituals following local customs and the wishes of their families on December 30.

The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum held a ceremony on November 5 to send off the province's team in charge of searching for and repatriating remains of volunteer martyrs and experts who died in Laos and Cambodia during wartime (Team K5) on its mission in the 2022-2023 dry season.
Authorities of the northernmost border province of Ha Giang on November 26 held a memory service and burial for the remains of eight martyrs who laid down their lives in the fight to defend the border.
Team K72 under the southern province of Binh Phuoc’s Military Command, which is responsible for repatriating the remains of the Vietnamese soldiers who died in Cambodia, has unearthed remains of 11martyrs after a 20-day search starting November 7.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
