– Party General Secretary To Lam on January 6 visited officers and soldiers of Corps 34 and Brigade 15 under the Ministry of National Defence in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

Visiting Corps 34, which was established with the merger of Corps 3 and Corps 4, the Party chief, who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission, hailed the initial achievements that the unit has made so far, laying the firm foundation for it to forge its own glorious tradition in the new period. – All external affairs and diplomatic activities must serve the country’s goal of achieving at least 8% growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the diplomatic sector’s conference on January 6.

Highlighting Vietnam’s successes last year, PM Chinh affirmed that the diplomatic sector has played a crucial role in these achievements, helping maintain a peaceful and stable environment for development, handling relational issues with important partners, and strengthening political trust and upgrading relations with partners. – The restructuring of state-owned corporations and enterprises must follow the spirit of “placing national interests above all else” to ensure that state capital is managed and developed optimally, serving national development in the new era, said PM Pham Minh Chinh on January 6.

PM Chinh, who is also head of the steering committee, critiqued the existing model of managing state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and state capital, which he described as partly constrained by the Law on Management and Use of State Capital Invested in Production and Business of Enterprises. – The average monthly income of Vietnamese workers surged by 8.6 % annually to 7.7 million VND (approximately 304 USD) in 2024, according to a press conference held by the General Statistics Office (GSO) in Hanoi on January 6.

Specifically, the average income of male workers was 8.7 million VND while female workers earned 6.5 million VND. Urban dwellers enjoyed even higher earnings, averaging 9.3 million VND, compared to 6.7 million VND in rural areas. Read full story

– The Vietnam Maritime Administration (VMA), under the Ministry of Transport, is preparing a proposal to enhance the operational capacity of public maritime infrastructure and existing port facilities. The proposal focuses on resolving infrastructure limitations caused by natural conditions at Vietnamese ports.
