– Party General Secretary and President To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron announced the upgrade of relations between the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during their talks in Paris on October 7 (local time), making France the first country in the European Union (EU) to establish this partnership with Vietnam.

– Vietnam and France have issued a joint statement on the upgrade of bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the occasion of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s official visit to France from October 6-7.

– The Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony in Hanoi on October 7 to present decisions of the State President and the Defence Minister to three officers who will assume duties at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
