- Members of the Politburo and Secretariat reviewed the restructuring of the political system’s organisational apparatus and reorganisation of administrative units at all levels during a meeting on May 3.

Under the chair of Party General Secretary To Lam, they discussed the progress of implementing the resolution of the 13th Party Central Committee's 11th plenum and conclusions of the Politburo and the Secretariat regarding the work. Read full story
- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam hosted a reception for Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), in Hanoi on May 4.

General Secretary Lam warmly welcomed President Dissanayaka, who is paying a state visit to Vietnam and attending the 20th United Nations Day of Vesak Celebrations (Vesak 2025), noting the significance of the trip as it coincides with the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. - A political music show marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Con Dao (May 1, 1975–2025) was held in the island district off the coast of southern Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on May 3 evening.

The event, held at Hang Duong Cemetery, saw the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, incumbent and former officials, along with over 700 former political prisoners and their relatives from nationwide. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau to turn its Con Dao island district into a bright, green, clean, beautiful and world-class tourist destination.
At a working session with the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee on May 3, PM Chinh instructed local authorities to finalise and implement the scheme for applying special mechanisms for Con Dao's development. Read full story
- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on May 4 called on deputies to contribute well-considered and wise ideas, with the highest sense of responsibility towards voters and the nation, at the 15th NA’s 9th session, given that this is a historic session making decisions on matters of great significance for the country.
Speaking at a conference between the Standing Board of the NA's Party Committee and heads of NA deputies' delegations of provinces and centrally-run cities, the top legislator said that the session is scheduled to officially kick off on the morning of May 5, and conclude on June 30. - The trips by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Belarus from May 5- to 12 will help uphold and promote comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and these four countries in the new situation, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang told the press ahead of the visits.
Accordingly, the Party leader will pay state visits to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, an official visit to Russia where he will attend a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War, and then a state visit to Belarus. Read full story
- Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast has secured a long-term syndicated loan agreement worth 1.85 trillion IDR (110 million USD) and an 80 million USD accordion facility from two Indonesian banks to finance the construction of its plant in Indonesia.
The two banks are state-owned Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank). Under the agreement, BNI will be the lead arranger of the financing and will handle the underwriting for the syndicated loan of 1.85 trillion IDR. This loan is intended to finance the construction of PT VinFast Automobile Indonesia's EV manufacturing plant in Subang, West Java./. Read full story
