Museum receives memorabilia of Argentine war reporter

HCM City (VNA)– The Ho Chi Minh City Museum of War Remnants has received memorabilia ofArgentine journalist Ignacio Ezcurra who disappeared in Sai Gon (now Ho ChiMinh City) 50 years ago during the war.

Tran Xuan Thao,Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of War Remnants received the items fromEzcurra’s daughter Encarnacion Ezcurra at a ceremony held by the museum and theHo Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations on May 8.

The memorabiliaincluded the Argentine journalist’s press card and the first edition of thebook entitled Hasta Vietnam (To Vietnam), which is a collection of articles andphotos of the war against the US in Vietnam published in May 1972. The book includespieces of diary he wrote in the morning of May 8, 1968 – the day he wentmissing.

Born1939 in San Isidro, Argentina, Ezcurra studied at Columbia University in NewYork with a scholarship from the Inter American Press Association. He worked ingraphics, radio and television and travelled most of Argentina and the US toscreen documentaries for the Buenos Aires-based Di Tella Institute.

Ezcurra was best known for his works on theBlack Power movement in the US, and interviews with the US Senator for New YorkRobert Kennedy and American Baptist minister and activist Martin Luther King.

He wasa war correspondent of La Nació de Buenos Aires newspaper in Vietnam.
