Myanmar approves national plans for next fiscal year

Myanmar’s parliament has approved the Government’s national plan for the 2014-15 fiscal year and the 2014 union budget draft, local media reported on March 26.

Under the documents, Myanmartargets at an 8-percent growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), withthe agriculture sector aiming for 3.9 percent, the industry sector 10.4percent, and service 12.4 percent.

To reach thegoals, the country plans to attract foreign investment to developtechnology and human resources in the key fields of industry,agriculture, infrastructure, and tourism.

Itwill spend more than 1.142 trillion kyats (1.18 billion USD) or 5.9percent of the total spending for education, and around 652 billionkyats for health care.
