– Myanmar’s Government has banned cabinet members from appointing their relatives as personal assistants, according to an announcement from the Minister of the President’💙s Office Aung San Suu Kyi.

Only civil servants are allowed to take up the posts in accordance with the public servant rules.
The new Government of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) party, which took office on April 1, features 18 ministers operating 21 ministries. Earlier, Myanmar’s former ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party dimissed 17 senior members, including U Shwe Mannn, former acting party chairman and former speaker of the Union Parliament and House of Representatives (Lower House).
Other senior USDP members dismissed include U Maung Maung Thein, U San Shwe Aung, U Ko Ko Naing, U Zaw Myint Pe, U Thein Zaw and Thura U Aung Ko. U Shwe Mann is currently leading an advisory review commission to the new Union Parliament formed on March 1, handling legal affairs and special cases. Thura U Aung Ko is Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture with the new government.-VNA
