Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar exported a total of 700,000tonnes of rice during April-June, the country’s official media reported on July14.

The country’s exports included Emata rice, Ngasein rice,sticky rice, parboiled rice and broken rice. Main markets of Myanmar rice weremember countries of the European Union (EU), South Africa and China.

In the last week of June, the country shipped abroad over22,000 tonnes of rice. It earned 6.5 million USD from the export during theperiod.

In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Myanmar sold 1.5 milliontonnes of rice to Asian, EU and African countries, of which 50 percent went toChina.

The country is projected to export two million tonnes ofrice this fiscal year with expected earnings of 700 million USD, according tothe Myanmar Rice Federation.-VNA
