Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw has calledfor reform of the constitution and justice for all recognised minorities in thecountry. 

In his speech marking the 70th anniversary of Myanmar'sindependence from Britain, U Htin Kyaw urged all people to work collectively tocreate a suitable constitution and called for respect for human rights and the emergenceof a democratic state based on the principles of freedom for all ethnic communities,justice, equality and right of self-determination.

U Htin Kyaw recalled the successful convening of the secondmeeting of the 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference in May 2017 withagreements reached regarding some basic principles of the federal structure.

He also called for continuously working on areas suchas education, health and reform in the economic and foreign investment sectors,focusing on the improvement of the socio-economic status of the people.-VNA
