Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th NationalAssembly began questioning ministers and heads of sectors on November 6, aspart of its ongoing eighth session in Hanoi.
The three-day question-and-answer (Q&A)session is being broadcast live on Voice of Vietnam (VOV), Vietnam Television(VTV), and Vietnam National Assembly Television.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentNguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Minister ofHome Affairs Le Vinh Tan, and Minister of Information and Communications NguyenManh Hung will field questions raised by deputies during the three days.
Deputy Prime Ministers in charge of relatedfields, other ministers, the Governor of the State Bank, and the GovernmentInspector General will also take part in the session.
At the end of the session, Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc will clarify related issues and answer lawmakers’ questions.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural DevelopmentNguyen Xuan Cuong will be the first person to answer deputies’ questions in themorning of November 6.
In the afternoon, legislators will questionMinister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh.
On November 5, the 12th working dayof the NA’s 8th session, National Assembly General Secretary NguyenHanh Phuc delivered an initial report on the 39 dead victims found in a lorryin the UK.
NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said the NA sendsits condolences to the bereaved families and urged the Government, ministries,departments and localities to work with relevant countries to verify the issueand take measures to protect citizens.
The NA told the Ministry of Public Security topush ahead with an investigation into trafficking rings who send workers abroadillegally, he added.
Deputies also discussed reports from theGovernment, judicial agencies and the NA in preventing crime, legal violationsand corruption, as well as the work of the Chief Justice of the SupremePeople’s Court, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, andthe enforcement of verdicts in 2019.
Ministerof Finance Dinh Tien Dung and Chairman of the NA Committee on Finance andBudget Nguyen Duc Hai presented reports on the allocation of over 4 trillionVND (171.8 million USD) of the total 10 trillion VND earmarked for importantnational projects in the public investment plan for 2016-2020./.
Legislators will have a further look into reports on the judicial work and crime fight, and discuss the draft law on libraries on November 5 as part of the activities of the ongoing 8th session of the 14th-tenure National Assembly (NA).
National Assembly (NA) General Secretary Nguyen Hanh Phuc on November 5 delivered an initial report to deputies on Vietnam’s response to issues related to Vietnamese victims in the recent lorry tragedy in Essex, the UK.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
