
The Vietnamese top legislatorleads a delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State to attend the officialfuneral of Cuban leader Fidel Castro set for December 4.
Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan askedE. Lazo to convey the deepest sympathies of leaders and former leaders of theVietnamese Party and State, and people to President Raul Castro, Party andState leaders and people of Cuba, as well as Fidel’s family.
Generations of Vietnamese havealways kept in mind the fraternal solidarity and the whole-hearted and valuablesupport of Fidel for Vietnam over the past half a century, she said.
The chief legislator said shebelieves that under the leadership of Raul Castro, the Cuban Party, State andpeople will successfully realise Fidel’s thought in national construction anddefence.
The Vietnamese Party and Statewill hold a special ceremony in tribute to the Cuban historic and eminent revolutionaryleader, who is also a close comrade and brother of Vietnamese leaders andpeople.
For his part, E.Lazo said theVietnamese delegation was the first foreign delegation to arrive in Cuba andpay tribute to Fidel on November 28, which demonstrates the special solidaritybetween the two countries’ leaders and people.
He noted that VietnamesePresident Tran Dai Quang was the final foreign head of State to visit Fidel onNovember 15, just 10 days before he passed away.
E.Lazo expressed his admirationfor great and comprehensive achievements Vietnam has recorded over the pastthree decades, saying Cuba treasures Vietnam’s experience in nationalconstruction and defence, and is resolved to promote the traditional andspecial fraternity between the two Parties, States and peoples.
Host and guest held that thevisit to Cuba by President Tran Dai Quang from November 15-17 is a success, contributingto consolidating the special bilateral relationship, especially in politics,national defence, security and external affairs, while creating a new momentumfor economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries.
They also agreed on measures toimprove the efficiency of legislative cooperation between the two countries.
On November 29 night (Havanatime), a ceremony was held at the Revolution Square in Havana in memory ofFidel, with the participation of Cuban Party and State leaders, about 60delegations of foreign leaders and representatives from international andregional organisations, and more than one million Cuban people. This was thelargest official activity in tribute to the late leader in Havana.
Being one of foreign leadersinvited to speak at the event, NA Chairwoman Ngan said the Cuban Party, Stateand people have lost a historic and legendary leader. The internationalrevolutionary and communist movements have lost a courageous, unyielding andexperienced leader. The Vietnamese Party, State and people have lost a faithfulcomrade and a close brother.
Generations of Vietnamese willalways bear in their heart Fidel’s saying that “For Vietnam, Cuba is ready toshed its blood”, she said, reiterating the solidarity of Vietnamese leaders andpeople with Cuban communists and people.
She noted her belief that Fidelwill live forever in Cuba’s revolutionary cause as well as in the heart of fraternalnations worldwide.
Fidel will be interred in acemetery in Santiago city on December 4.-VNA
