NA Economic Committee’s first plenary session opens

Hanoi (VNA)💞 – The Economic Committee of the 14th National Assembly convened its first plenary meeting in Hanoi on July 28, focusing on making a plan for its operation until the NA’s second session.

Under the plan, the committee will verify a number of bills, including the Property Auction Law, the Law on Foreign Trade Management, the Planning Law, and the Law on Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
It will work closely with the NA’s Ethnic Council and other committees to verify and assess the implementation of the NA’s resolution on socio-economic development in 2016 and the plan for 2017. The verification reports are scheduled to be delivered at the NA’s second session in October 2016. The committee will also supervise the implementation of the national target programme on new-style rural building in a number of localities and report the results to the NA during the NA’s second session. It will also make a draft resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2017, while giving ideas on the verification report on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy NA Chairman Phung Quoc Hien emphasised the significant role of the committee which is not only take the charge of economic affairs but also coordinate with other NA committees during the verification of specific matters. He asked the committee to prioritise major and urgent issues during its supervision. Members of the committee should also change their mindset and promote the collective brainpower to fulfil all tasked, he requested. As approved by the NA Standing Committee, the Economic Committee comprises one Chairman, Vu Hong Thanh, three Deputy Chairmen – Duong Quoc Anh, Nguyen Duc Kien, and Nguyen Minh Son – five standing members and other members.-VNA
