NA leader presents mid-autumn fest gifts to Ben Tre children

Ben Tre (VNA) – Vice Chairwoman of theNational Assembly Tong Thi Phong handed over scholarships and gifts todisadvantaged children in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on October 1 onthe occasion of the Mid-autumn festival.
The 300 scholarships, each worth 1 million VND (44 USD), and gifts werepresented to the children in Ben Tre SOS Children’s Village.
The same day, Phong attended a programme called “Thap sang nhung uoc mo” (Lightingup dreams) jointly held by the Vietnam Association for Protection of Children’sRights, the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin and theBen Tre province Association for Protection of Children’s Rights.
Addressing the event, the legislator urged all-level Party Committees,authorities, agencies, organisations and the entire society to bettermaterialise guidelines of the Party, and laws and policies of the State towardsunderprivileged children, while calling for joint efforts to protect children’srights.
During the programme, the 4th version, up to 367 scholarships, eachworth 1 million VND, and gifts were presented to disadvantaged children whohave recorded outstanding academic performance in Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Tien Giangand Hau Giang provinces. –VNA
Thousands of colourful lanterns are lighting up the streets of HCM City’s District 5 during the night, attracting thousands of visitors for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
Colourful lanterns will light up Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the gates will open for the public to celebrate mid-autumn festival, beginning now and running until October 4 - the full moon day of the eighth lunar month.
Locally-made lanterns of different colours and designs decorated the northern mountainous city of Tuyen Quang on September 30 night when the Tuyen Quang City Festival kicked off.
