Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 41st session on the morning of January 6, marking its first meeting of the year.

In his opening address, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasised the substantial workload ahead in 2025.

He highlighted that the first quarter would see an extraordinary session of the legislature at the end of February, aimed at addressing the amendment and enactment of laws and resolutions critical for implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee. This resolution focuses on reorganizing the political system in an elite, streamlined, strong, efficient, valid, and effective manner. Preliminary reports suggest that nearly 300 specialized laws and over 4,900 related legal documents will need to be revised to align with the apparatus restructuring.

The top legislator also noted that additional NA Standing Committee meetings may be scheduled to ensure thorough preparations for the extraordinary session.

The 41st session, which will span 1.5 days, is set to provide feedback on several draft laws, including the Digital Technology Industry Law, the amended Employment Law, and proposed amendments to the Law on Advertising and the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations.

Furthermore, the committee will discuss and adopt a joint resolution featuring regulations for meetings with voters by NA and People's Council deputies. It will also review a resolution detailing the implementation of democratic practices within the internal operations of NA agencies, NA Standing Committee bodies, and People's Councils at all levels.

Regarding inspection activities, it will review the NA's December 2024 report on public aspirations and provide input on a proposed thematic oversight outline regarding the implementation of policies and regulations on environmental protection, following the enactment of the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection.

ಌ The session will also include discussions on preparations for the 9th extraordinary session of the 15th NA./.
