NA Standing Committee holds Q&A session on judicial issues

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee held a question-and-answer (Q&A) session about judicial issues on March 20 as part of its 21st meeting.

Hanoi (VNA) – The NationalAssembly (NA) Standing Committee held a question-and-answer (Q&A) sessionabout judicial issues on March 20 as part of its 21st meeting.

NA deputies’ delegations of localities nationwide also joined the Q&A session via videoconference, which was broadcast live on national radio and television.

In his opening remarks, NA ChairmanVuong Dinh Hue said the court and procuracy sectors have a very important roleto play in ensuring the strict enforcement of legal documents to help with thefight against corruption and negative phenomena.

Courts are judging bodies that exercisejudicial rights and protect justice, human rights, citizens’ rights, thesocialist regime, interests of the State, and rights and legitimate interestsof organiations and individuals.

With a high sense of responsibility, courtshave improved the quality and effectiveness of judging activities.

Meanwhile, the procuracy sector, whichexercises the rights of prosecution and investigation procuracy, has madeunceasingly efforts to better fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State,and people, Hue said.

However, he also pointed out certainshortcomings of the sectors.

The Chairman said the one-day Q&Asession covers most of functions and tasks of the two sectors, askinglegislators to raise brief and candid questions, and heads of the sectors togive straightforward answers and propose practical,effective, and feasible solutions to improve the sectors’ capacity, efficiency,and effectiveness.

It is also an occasion for officialsto provide official information about their sectors’ performance results, hewent on, adding that after the Q&A session, the NA Standing Committee willissue a resolution to serve as a basis for implementation and supervision./.
