Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam entered the quarterfinals of HongKong F6 Futures tournament on January 3.
Nam beat AlbertoLim, the Philippines’s No. 1, 12-10, 6-2 in a second round match that lastedone hour and 38 minutes.
Nam is world No. 498, andLim is world No 1561.
Earlier, Nam has pairedwith Lim to compete in the men’s doubles category at international events likethe 25th Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup and the ITF Junior Tennis Championship(Grade 1).
Nam will next meet thewinner of the match between Yamasaki Jumpei of Japan, world No 804 and FabienReboul of France, world No 438.-VNA
Vietnamese tennis ace Ly Hoang Nam has risen to 495th spot in the ATP’s tennis rankings after he finished runner-up in the Vietnam F3 Futures event and was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the F3 tournament.
The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

The U23 competition will run from June 16 to 22, followed by the U17 event from June 23 to 28, while athletes competing in the U23 category will undergo weight and skill checks ahead of the matches starting June 18, while similar checks for U17 athletes will take place before June 23.
Vietnam continues to sit just behind continental powerhouses Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia, China, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
