Hanoi (VNA) – The NationalASEAN 2020 Committee held its third session on July 9 under the chair of thecommittee’s chairman - Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.
At the session, sub-committeesreported on the pace of preparation work for the country to assume the Chair ofASEAN in 2020. The preparation covers a wide range of fields, from logistics,protocol issues to communication activities and plans for major events duringthe year.
The sub-committees also proposedideas for initiatives Vietnam will put forth during its term as ASEAN Chair, and gave opinions on the mainlogo of the year and the building of the website of the Chair of ASEAN 2020.
Concluding the session, DeputyPM Minh commended the committee’s members, sub-committees and relatedministries and agencies for their efforts.
He approved the direction of workfrom now to the committee’s fourth session, slated for September, along withthe calendar of a number of main events in 2020.
The Deputy PM also adopted thelogo design submitted by the sub-committee on communication and culturalaffairs and requested the sub-committee to early build the brand identity of ASEANin order to present it to countries at the 52nd ASEAN MinisterialMeeting (AMM 52) and related meetings in Thailand in August.
He urged the committee toaccelerate the consultation of related countries on the theme and priorities ofthe ASEAN 2020 as well as the scheduled date for major conferences in 2020,particularly the 37th ASEAN Summit and Summits with partners.-VNA
The National ASEAN 2020 Committee, tasked with making preparations for Vietnam to shoulder the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020, made debut in Hanoi on December 24.
The recent establishment of the National ASEAN 2020 Committee is one of the initial steps that Vietnam has taken for months to prepare for the task of the ASEAN Chair in 2020, said Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
He also pledged that the NA will promote its ongoing supervision, making sure that every promise must lead to results, and every commitment must bring about real changes.
