Vientiane (VNA) – National Assembly Chaiꩵrwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has arrived in the Lao capital Vientiane, beginning an official visit to Laos from September 26-27 at the invitation of her Lao counterpart Pany Yatꦇhotou.
Ngan and the Vietnamese NA delegation were met at the airport by Vice Chairman of Lao National Assembly Bunphon Buttanavon, Chairman of the Lao NA’s External Relations Committee Eksavang Vongvichit and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung.
The visit, the first abroad by Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan as Chairwoman of the National Assembly, aims to further bolster the time-honoured friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the Parties, States and people of Vietnam and Laos.
It also aims to carry out cooperation agreements between the two National Assemblies and enhance exchange and experience sharing between them.-VNA
The Lao National Assembly sought closer links in many fields with its Vietnamese counterpart, Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Somphan Phengkhammy has remarked.
Vietnam and Laos have reaped encouraging outcomes in their forestry cooperation but also need to make more efforts to address existing problems along their shared border.
The Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bui Thanh Ha is willing to send its senior officials to Laos to give lectures in training courses on religious affairs for Laos officials.

The country is willing to participate in collective efforts to promote cooperation and mobilise resources to advance the current priority issues of developing countries, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, making the most of scientific and technological advances for development, and people-to-people exchanges, Hang said.
During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
