Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 13 led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State to attend the state funeral of former Politburo member, former Prime Minister of Laos and former Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction Central Committee Sisavath Keobounphanh, who passed away a day earlier.
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee have issued a special communiqué, announcing that former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu passed away at 2:52 on August 7, and his funeral will be held as a national mourning.
The respect-paying ceremony for former General Secretary of the Party Central Committee Le Kha Phieu started on August 14 at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi, Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and 25B Hall in the late leader hometown of Thanh Hoa.
