HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Registration for the 21stannual Eureka Award competition is open to all Vietnamesestudents who have a passion for scientific research until September30.
Doan Kim Thanh, director of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's YouthDevelopment Science and Technology Centre, and head of the competition'sorganisation board, said: “The award helps to nurture youngtalent in scientific research and develop projects with potential thatwill contribute to the country’s development."
All students from universities, colleges and vocational schoolsnationwide can join the competition as an individual or ingroups of no more than five.
The award accepts research projects in 12 fields, including pharmaceuticalchemistry technology, biotechnology and biomedical technology, informationtechnology, food technology, education, economy, engineering, agriculture,forestry and fishery, law, planning, architecture and construction, naturalresources and environment, and social affairs and humanities.
Contestants can submit their entries at the Youth Scientific and TechnologicalPromotion Centre at No 1 Pham Ngoc Thach Street in HCM City’s District 1, orvia email at khoahoctre@gmail.com, or the website www.khoahoctre.com.vn.
Outstanding projects will receive one special prize worth 20 million VND (860USD), first prizes worth 10 million VND (430 USD) each, second prizesworth 5 million VND (215 USD) each, third prizes worth 3 million VND (128 USD)each, and consolation prizes worth 2 million VND (85 USD) each.
The competition’s final round and an awards ceremony will be held at theHCM City University of Transport in November.
The Eureka Award was organised for the first time in1999. It attracted more than 900 entries from 2,000 studentsfrom 106 educational units last year. A total of 100 scientific projects wereawarded Eureka prizes with total value of 336 million VND (14,425 USD).
This year, the competition is hosted by the HCM City chapter of the Ho ChiMinh Communist Youth Union in collaboration with the VietnamNational University-HCM City.- VNS/VNA
