Hanoi (VNA) – Nearly 1,900 kindergartensand primary schools in Hanoi reopened on May 11 after more than three months ofclosure for COVID-19 prevention.
Earlier on May 4, about 900 secondary and highschools resumed teaching and learning.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had allowed theremoval of social distancing measures at schools because Vietnam has largelycontained the pandemic without new infection cases in the community over thepast three weeks.
However, there is still a high risk oftransmission from outside of the country, given the complexity of the fightagainst the COVID-19 in the region and the world, and a vaccine is yet to befound.
Social distancing measures suitable to the newnormal situation must therefore be maintained in education and training andsocio-economic sectors, the PM ordered.
The Ministry of Education and Training alsoissued 15 criteria for ensuring COVID-19 prevention and control at educationalestablishments. Any schools that are unable to meet more than seven criteriawill be assessed as unsafe and not allowed to operate./.
Tens of millions of students from kindergartens to high schools nationwide returned to school on May 4 morning after a three-month closure to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
