Nearly 7.5 million trade union members and workers across Vietnam have received support to have a better Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to reports by 74 out of 82 localities and units nationwide.

Hanoi (VNA)🌱 –Nearly 7.5 million trade union members and workers across Vietnam have received support to have a better Lunar NewYear (Tet) holiday, according to reports by 74 out of 82 localities andunits nationwide.
The support was worth over 4.24trillion VND (173.7 million USD) in total, including nearly 1.8 trillion VNDfrom non-State sources. According to the VGCL, onthe occasion of Tet 2024, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) and trade unions at all levels coordinated with the VietnamFatherland Front Central Committee and agencies to assist 248 delegations from the Party, theState, the National Assembly, and the Government to deliver Tet gifts to 32,200workers. Trade unions at all levelshave organised 14,664 Tet programmes,attracting over 3 million members and workers. More than 1.8 million trade union members and workers received gifts worth over 1 trillion VND at the programmes.

According to VGCL ViceChairman Phan Van Anh, diverse activities were organised for workers includingfive-fruit tray displays, chung cake-making competitions, lucky draws, folkgames, legal advice, zero-dong booths, and cultural and art activities. In addition, localities,units and organisations offered scholarships to workers’ children, anddisadvantaged children. Workers who work far fromhome were given free travel tickets to return home for the Tet celebration. More than 162,800 trade union membersand workers were given train/bus/plane ticket support worth nearly 76 billion VND.Trade unions at all levels organised and coordinated with agencies, units andemployers to provide 3,382 free bus trips to bring over 112,000 workers totheir hometowns./.
High-ranking officials of the Party and State on January 23 visited and offered greetings to people with disadvantages in Hau Giang, Quang Ngai, and Binh Thuan provinces, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet).
Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue on January 25 extended greetings and presented gifts on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (called Tet in Vietnamese) to families of policy beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors, poor households, Agent Orange/dioxin victims, and workers facing difficulties in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.
Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan paid a visit to the central province of Quang Nam on January 29 on the threshold of the traditional Lunar New Year(Tet) festival.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on January 31 visited Tran Yen district in the northern province of Yen Bai, extending Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings and presenting gifts to 160 policy beneficiary families, revolution contributors, poor households, and workers facing difficulties.
