Nearly 80 percent of people in the central coastal province of Thua Thien – Hue have access to clean water thanks to a national target programme on clean water and environmental sanitation in 2016-2020.

The locality aims to provide clean water to 100 percent of rural peopleby 2020 and build clean water supply facilities at all schools and medicalstations.
The Thua Thien Hue Constructionand Water Supply State OneMember Co., Ltd. hasselected Phong Dien district, located far from the centre of Hue city, to carryout a project worth 51.5 billion VND (2.25 million USD) to provide cleanwater for locals.
Thecompany plans to increase the capacity of Phong Thu factory in the district to21,000 cubic metres per day by 2020 in the second phase of the project fundedby the Asian Development Bank.
Ithas also invested more than 158 billion VND (6.9 million USD) to upgrade severalold water supplying plants and build new ones.
Thecompany runs 13 water production plants with combined capacity of 105,000 cubicmetres per day, providing water across Thua Thien – Hue province.-VNA
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.

The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government.
