Hanoi (VNA)🌊 – Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for ExternalRelations Vu Hai Ha has been elected as Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba FriendshipAssociation for the 2021-2025 tenure.
Speakingat a conference of the association in Hanoi on October 13, Ha vowed to do hisbest to uphold the tradition of the association, and serve as a bridge between the Vietnamese and Cuban people, thereby contributing to the Vietnam-Cuba special friendship. Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, whowas Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Organisation for the 2017-2020period, expressed her belief that Ha will fulfill his assigned tasks to contributeto the growing bilateral ties. Amidthe complicated developments of the COVID1-9 pandemic in the past nine months, theassociation switched from offline to online and semi-online activities topopularise the information about Cuba and its people, as well as the traditional solidarity betweenthe two nations, affirming the Vietnamese people's consistent support for the revolutionary causefor justice of the fraternal Cuban people./.
Vietnamese Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, co-chairs of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Government Committee, had a working session in Havana on September 20 to seek ways to strengthen partnership between the two countries through this mechanism.

Vietnam and Cuba released a 12-point joint statement on the occasion of Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official friendship visit to Cuba from September 18-20 at the invitation of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén has appreciated President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Cuba from September 18-21, affirming that the outcomes of the visit will contribute to deepening the time-tested friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
